There are several ways to accept payment through an online
business: provide an address for checks, publish a phone number
to accept orders by phone, or have credit card numbers e-mailed
to you (which is somewhat insecure if you are not using encryption).
However, the most efficient and effective way to accept payment
by far is to accept credit cards through your website in real
time.
The process works like this: The customer submits an order
and their card information. The shopping cart sends this information
securely to a real-time processor--that's a company
that can check the cards and authorize them. The real-time
processor checks the card out, authorizes (or declines) the
payment, and can charge the card if the authorization is successful.
The money goes into your account, and the processor returns
control to the shopping cart. The customer sees his card has
been accepted (or denied), and the order is complete.
Partially Sane has partnered with Wells
Fargo Bank to offer an easy and affordable real-time
processing solution--get an Impulse
4.2 store with Partially Sane, a merchant account
with Wells Fargo, and process orders online upon approval.
It is that easy to do--you can find more information
about this program here.
Impulse is also fully integrated with a dozen real-time credit
card processors, all of which are listed on our real-time
processors page. This connection to a real-time processor
is included in the $10/month or $100/year Impulse fee. Also
included is, if you have a real-time processor that is not
currently integrated with Impulse, we will do so free
of charge, usually with a turnaround of a week or less.
